Simon is interested in high-mass star-forming regions, particularly the ways in which the feedback from high-mass stars, in the form of radiation and stellar winds, shapes their nascent molecular clouds. For this he uses data from several radio and sub-millimetre telescopes, such as SOFIA, IRAM 30m and NOEMA. Using FYST, he aims to combine new atomic carbon observations with existing ionised carbon observations to study the abundance of carbon in diverse environments and trace the dynamics of molecular cloud assembly.
